Meet LJ, our new Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator! LJ has been at Exodus for about a year, and started on our LCORE team as a Cultural Orientation Training Specialist. You can read more about LJ below, and if you have any questions about volunteering at Exodus, you can email her a lrudman@exodusrefugee.org!
Hi, I’m LJ, and I have a passion for working with refugees, asylees, and asylum seekers, and coordinating meaningful opportunities for others to get involved in this work. Back in 2014 and 2015, I lived in Athens, Greece, where I worked at the Athens Refugee Center, and that experience shaped much of who I am today. I believe humanitarian immigrants are some of the most resilient, hardworking, and hopeful people in the world, and it’s a privilege to work alongside them.
I serve as the Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator at Exodus. In my role, I get to connect individuals and groups with opportunities to support our clients, whether through volunteering, donating, or advocating for newcomers in our community. It’s incredibly rewarding to see people come together to make a difference.
I first heard about Exodus in December 2018 when my friend Drew—who is now my husband—forwarded me one of Exodus’ emails. At the bottom of that email, I noticed a blurb about a job opening for a housing associate, and the rest is history! I was drawn to Exodus because of my background working with refugees and my desire to be part of an organization that empowers humanitarian immigrants to rebuild their lives.
My role is all about building connections—whether it’s connecting volunteers to opportunities, building awareness in our community, or creating a welcoming space for those we serve. I love that this work allows me to make a tangible impact while also inspiring others to get involved. If you’re curious about how you can help, I’d love to hear from you!
